Coffee Alchemy - DPCon13 Sponsor - The Flying Drunken Monkey

Today I’m attending the Digital Parents Conference in North Sydney. I attended last year in Melbourne and this year it’s not only closer to home, but over two days as well. Just a pity that I will be missing half of tomorrow as I have an appointment with the diabetes clinic which I just can’t get out of. :(

Thanks to the awesome guys at Coffee Alchemy I’m able to attend this year. You may remember them as my sponsor last year.

So who are Coffee Alchemy? In their words:

Coffee Alchemy started many many moons ago growing up with grandma’s coffee trees, helping her pick, process and roast… the obsession rekindled in later years by a domestic espresso machine, a grinder and the insatiable desire for fresh coffee. A small commercial roaster followed the growing list of acquisitions not to mention the growing hill of beans.

Soon a little café tucked away in a quaint suburb was opened as an outlet for our obsession. But the madness continues to grow, along with the roaster, the coffee machine, the espresso bar {Flint and Steel}, the Australian Barista Champion title, the NSW Championship titles, the Australian Cupping Champion title, the Golden Bean Gold medal for Filter Coffee (along with more Golden Bean medals – silvers and bronzes over a few years), the Sydney Royal Fine Food 2008 bronze medals, the Sydney Royal Fine Food 2009 silver and bronze medal (both in the espresso category) and bronze (plunger category), the Coffee Guide Sydney “God Shot” Award 2011 plus 5 “coffee beans”, the 3 “coffee cups” and the “Best Coffee” award in the SMH Good Cafe Guide 2011 & SMH Good Cafe Guide 2012, the Coffee Guide Sydney “God Shot” Award 2013 plus 5 “coffee beans” and that ever growing mountain of green beans….

Just a few awards! That’s just how good the coffee is.

We used to be daily visitors but since moving a few streets away and since I fell pregnant the walk has just been that bit too far for me. But I make sure that I drop in every time I’m driving somewhere else, including after dropping Lily at school on Fridays, and we’ve taken to walking that way back from swimming on Mondays as it only adds a couple more minutes on to our usual walk for that day.

I regularly buy a bag of ground beans to use in my plunger at home (remind me to buy a new bag soon!) for those days when I can’t make it to the shop. It’s not quite the same as getting an espresso from the world-class baristas but it’s close enough!

I’m so honoured to representing Coffee Alchemy again at this year’s Digital Parents Conference. Please stop in if you’re ever in Inner-West Sydney or check out their Online Store to have some freshly roasted beans delivered direct to your door.
