I don’t really have an Afternoon Routine; As we are normally home all day I try to get the housework done in the morning and relax in the afternoon before starting the evening routine at dinner. If we go out in the morning I simply do what I missed in the morning. So really, the only thing I can add to the afternoon routine is hanging/bringing in washing and doing zone work that I haven’t done in the morning. This will probably change in the years to come once Lily starts pre-school and then school. But for the moment I’m quite happy with my routines. A morning and evening routine is enough for me!

Today is Mr Monkey’s birthday so I wasn’t intending on getting much housework done. Mr Monkey got up fairly early with Lily but came back and had a nap in bed with me around 10.30. We stayed in bed, playing with Lily until about midday and then got up and made the bed. I put a load of washing on while Mr Monkey got Lily ready and then we headed up the road to the cafe and then across to the park for a picnic. It was nice except for the fact that the sun kept hiding behind the clouds and Lily was much more interested in running off to the playground than eating.

The clouds started getting quite dark so we made the decision to head home and we plonked ourselves on the couch for a bit. Before we had left I filled the bathroom sink with hot water and bleach. It confused Mr Monkey a bit when he went to brush his teeth. Whoops! After a bit of relaxing I went and emptied the sink and then scrubbed it with a bit of bicarb. I also got out an old toothbrush and went at the taps. It came up fairly well, except for a bit of rust on the plug hole and the hot tap wouldn’t shine. But it looks much better and should hopefully be a little easier to keep clean.

The de-cluttering that I have intended to get done in the bathroom is the drawers. We have a set of 4 plastic drawers that are just filled with clutter. I decided to do them a step at a time so started with the top. As you can see it was pretty messy. We have a basket each for the things we use each day and they have just accumulated junk. It only took a few minutes to de-clutter, although some of the things went in to the other drawers and in to the medicine cupboard above the sink. I’ll try to get one or two of the drawers done tomorrow as I am going away for a few days for the rest of the week. But at least the top of the drawers look much better.
I also put away the sheets and quilt cover that I washed yesterday and hung out the washing that had been put on this morning. I put another load of washing on and then sprayed the shower/bath with cleaner. I’ll wash it down when I have a shower before we go out for dinner tonight.
So even though I didn’t intend to do much today I still managed to get quite a bit done. I did intend to Kelly’s Mission today – disinfecting the rubbish bin but didn’t get around to it. I might do this before we go to bed tonight and leave it to soak overnight. The mission for the laundry today is to wipe down the washing machine lid which I actually did yesterday. I didn’t need to do yesterday’s laundry mission – de-cluttering the supplies – as I only did this recently.
Can I just say, it has been very hard to write this post! I’m sitting on the couch with the laptop on my lap and Lily is continuously climbing over the couch and in to my lap, or pushing a book in to my face. Sigh. Not much different to usual actually.
