2 years old. Wasn’t it only yesterday that I was holding you in my arms after 25 hours of labour? No? Sure feels like it.

You’ve come so far in the past year. Not only are you walking, you can run and jump (a few centimetres off the ground) and you do a silly little skipping thing sometimes when we walk. You love to dance and wiggle your hips and I love seeing the new dance moves you pull out.

You don’t talk much, especially when we ask you to, but you love to make random noises. You can say “Mum!!!” when you want my attention, you say “Daaaadeeeee” when you try to get Daddy’s attention and only a few days ago you said “gurrnee” when you wanted Granny’s attention. You called out “Em!” when Aunty Emma was outside the other day and you can repeat almost every letter of the alphabet when you’re in the mood. You know so many animal noises and used to love to say them but in the last few weeks you’ve decided that it’s uncool to make noises when your parents ask you to.

I love the way that you have started to tap us on the arm when you want us to look at something, the way you point when you want us to go somewhere, and the way you grab Granny’s hand to help her off the floor when you want her to do something for you.

Your comprehension is amazing and I love how easy it is for me to ask you to do something and you understand it. You don’t always do it but at least you understand.

You’ve started to want to put your clothes on by yourself and as long as I make sure your legs go in the right holes you can get your pants on, although you have trouble pulling them up over your nappy. You can put your arms through your tops but I need to put it on your head first. You’ve been able to put your shoes on for awhile now and you look so proud when you do!

You’ve only just really started to play by yourself and I’m loving seeing you begin to use your imagination. You love your toy kitchen that Granny and Poppy gave you for Christmas and I quite often just sit and watch as you boil food in your kettle and then set it up in bowls with spoons. You then put it on the table and go and grab your teddy Max so that you can enjoy it together. You also love to put your teddies to bed and pull the blanket over them and give them a kiss. My heart almost explodes from all of the cuteness.

You love to read books and I quite often find you sitting by yourself reading one of your books. Your favourite at the moment seems to be Dumbo which we read on our bed at night after your bath. You’re also obsessed with watching videos on my iPhone, especially the foreign language ones. You can’t seem to get enough of that strange lady singing in Portuguese.

Spending time with Olivia can be fun but the two of you sure love to push each other around. You’re both not very big on sharing but in the end you seem to love each other. The cuddles, kisses and hand holding are just adorable.

I can’t get enough of our little routine of walking around to the coffee shop to get a coffee for Mummy and a baby cino for Lily. It only took you a few goes to work out the cup and now you don’t spill a single drop.

It’s adorable the way you hide your head and refuse to look at anyone when you’re being shy. Of course, it would be better if you weren’t so shy but I love the way you snuggle in to me to get away from everyone else.

You’re very good at tidying up when I ask you to and I love that I can give you a tea towel while you’re eating your yoghurt and you clean up any drops.

There is so much more about you that I love. Your smile, your giggle, the cute way you say “oh no!” for every little thing that goes wrong.

I love you so much Lily Pily. Enjoy being a big girl.

    xxx
