I’m glad I planned to NOT to much housework last week. Because not much got done. Yet, the house wasn’t too terrible, not at all as bad as what it would’ve been last year. I suppose that’s something to be proud of.

No big plans for this week again; I’ll be heading down to my parents’ house on Thursday to celebrate my Mum’s birthday and probably won’t be home until Sunday, maybe Monday. So, I’m going to do what I can in the few days I have but I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself to get it all done. I’m starting to realise that it’s just really not worth all of the angst.

Here’s what I have planned in the bedroom:

    Dust
    Clear beside tables
    Clean mirrors
    Clean balcony doors
    Tidy change table
    Clean wardrobe doors
    Tidy under bed
    Fold clothes
    Vacuum
    Clean walls

So there you have it, my plan for the week. I’ll let you know how I go at the end of the month.

What do you have planned for this week? Are you working in the Bedroom too?

  2. {February Monthly Decluttering Zone} – The Computer Room

So each month I am scheduling a Zone or room and am going to spend the month tackling the decluttering and deep cleaning tasks that I need to do. I am starting with the computer room, simply because it is one of the rooms that need the most work.

    Here are my tasks:

♥ Declutter cupboard – this cupboard is full of… well I don’t really know. It has been used as storage for years and hardly ever opened. It also has a heap of stuff on top that needs to be sorted as well.

♥ Declutter top of drawers – I did this a little while ago but the pile seems to have grown a bit. There is a box of cords and other junk that I need Mr Monkey to sort through and I need to declutter the stationery and picture frames as well.

♥ Declutter jewellery box – I don’t know if I have ever decluttered my jewellery box. I don’t wear a lot of jewellery – I have my wedding ring, engagement ring and two bangles that I wear everyday and I may wear earrings and a necklace when going out. So it’s a little ridiculous how full my jewellery box is. I can never find the earrings I want when going out so I really need to clear it out.

♥ Organise book shelves – I used to have our book shelves fairly neat until Lily decided it was lots of fun to just pull all of the books off the shelves. For a while there I just left them on the floor as it was easier than putting them back on the shelves 10 times a day. Since she has stopped doing that the books have just been shoved back on the shelf where ever they would fit and it’s looking pretty horrible. I need to sort them back in to shelves (mine, Mr Monkey’s, cookbooks and Lily’s) and clean the shelves as well.

♥ Sort Lily’s clothes – Lily has just started moving in to size 2 clothes so I sorted her clothes out to put the size 1 in to storage (or give to my niece) but now we are starting to change seasons (or at least never really had a summer) so I need to put away her summer clothes. I also need to check what she will need as the weather gets colder, I think she’ll need some new tights and maybe a jacket.

♥ Better storage for Lily’s toys?? – I’m not sure what to do here. Lily has her kitchen and all of her assorted food and tea set upstairs in the computer room. At the moment we have a small tub that holds her tea set and her chopping board, the Ikea food goes in the soft baskets it came in and any other toys go in a small plastic container. It works when everything is all nicely put away but all of the different containers make it seem quite messy. I would like to find a way to make it more cohesive and perhaps even a little easier for Lily to play with a put away.

So, that’s my tasks for the month. I am hoping to get it all done as I have the whole month (or at least what’s left of it) to do it but I’m not going to set my expectations too high. I’ll do what I can.
