    Meal Plan:

    ——————
    ♥ Monday – Roast meat & veggies
    ♥ Tuesday – Mac & Cheese
♥ Wednesday – Dinner with Grandma & Grandad
♥ Thursday – Sticky Drumsticks and Fried Rice
♥ Friday – Crock Pot Lasagne Soup
♥ Saturday – Leek & Zucchini Quiche (Healthy Food Guide, August 2012 edition)
♥ Sunday – Roasted Capsicum Soup (Healthy Food Guide, August 2012 edition)

I’m back! I took a week off to try and catch up as I felt I was sort of falling behind with everything. I still don’t feel completely caught up but I do feel a little more on top of things.

A bit of a busy week this week. Monday Mr Monkey has an expo to go to and Lily and I will probably be doing the groceries.

On Tuesday we’re meeting up with the beautiful Lori from Random Ramblings of a Stay at Home Mum for a play date. I’m really excited but hoping the weather holds out so we can go to the park and I don’t have to clean the house. :)

Wednesday the in-laws are coming over and we’ll probably head to the pub for dinner before I go to the Buddhist Centre for an open night.

Thursday Mr Monkey is home and we have some chicken drumsticks in the freezer so I thought I’d try this Sticky Drumsticks recipe. I’ve never actually made fried rice before so this Fried Rice recipe looks fairly easy (if perhaps not authentic).

I’ve had this Crock Pot Lasagne Soup recipe from A Beach Cottage on my Pinterest board for ages and came across it again when I was looking for inspiration for this week’s meal plan. I was just explaining it to Mr Monkey and he was a bit perplexed. He has a thing about dishes that are named after another actual dish. Oh well, I like the idea!

I get the Healthy Food Guide magazine every week and when I was after inspiration I grabbed this month’s that I picked up a week or so ago and checked the dishes I had marked when I first read through it. I’ve been trying to eat more soups (I’ve never really liked soups before) and Mr Monkey has made a capsicum soup for me before that I really liked so I thought I’d give this one a go. Lily also seems fairly good with soups which was a bit of a surprise. Then again, she has always been a good eater but has become a little pickier lately, I think just being a toddler.

So, a fun week and some more inspiring dishes to make. Of course, we also have some great produce from Andy & Ted to use. I’ve been really impressed with the 3 boxes we have received so far and I’m looking forward to making it a permanent thing in our life.

What’s on your meal plan this week?

    Meal Plan:

    ——————
♥ Monday – Miso Glazed Scallops with Soba Noodles
    ♥ Tuesday – Mushroom Risotto
♥ Wednesday – Dinner with Granny & Poppy
♥ Thursday – Dinner at Ikea with Amy!
    ♥ Friday – Cauliflower Soup
♥ Saturday – Simple Braised Lentils with Chicken
♥ Sunday – Beef & Red Wine Pies

Two new themes for this week’s meal plan – Our first delivery from Andy and Ted Fresh Produce and Charlotte Wood’s new book – Love and Hunger.

We’ve been wanting to get a fruit and vegetable delivery for a while but have stuck to buying from our local grocer to keep prices down. I finally convinced Mr Monkey to order one these weekend from Andy & Ted (they deliver on Saturdays). This company is a little different from some of the others – you pay per box but you are able to pick which items are in each box. We paid $38 which gave us 10 options. For our money we got:
    ♥ Avocado (2 pieces)
    ♥ Bananas (5 pieces)
    ♥ Beans (0.40 kg)
    ♥ Broccoli (2 heads)
    ♥ Cauliflower (1 whole)
    ♥ Kiwifruit (4 pieces)
    ♥ Leeks (2 pieces)
    ♥ Mushrooms (0.2 kg)
    ♥ Potatoes (Desiree) (8 pieces)
    ♥ Tomatoes (4 pieces)

Not bad for $38! They buy all the produce direct from the growers at the markets and deliver it straight to our door in a huge wooden box. The produce looks great – like what we get from the Grocer compared to the major supermarkets. I’ve based our meal plan for the first half of this week around the veggies we got delivered and then will reorder on Thursday night for a new delivery on Saturday.

Last Saturday I attended a high tea at Better Read Than Dead bookshop with author Charlotte Wood for her new novel Love and Hunger. I’ve just finished reading L&H and loved it. I’ll hopefully write a full review soon but the rest of the recipes for this week are from the novel. I’m even making my own pastry for the pies!!!

Should be quite a fun week this week. I’ll let you know how it all goes. :)

What’s on your meal plan this week? And do you get your fruit and veg delivered?
